WEDNESDAY | DAY 1 | EN ROUTE

Depart the U.S. on the Airline of your choice to Hungary.

THURSDAY | DAY 2 | BUDAPEST

Arrive in Budapest, Hungary’s charming city, considered the most sophisticated of Eastern European capitals. Transfer to your hotel. This afternoon meet your guide for a city orientation and welcome cocktail. Spend the evening at leisure.

FRIDAY | DAY 3| BUDAPEST

This morning, a Professional Visit is scheduled at one of Budapest’s leading hospitals; meet the staff for discussion of health care in Hungary. Then our tour of Budapest, divided by the Danube to the west and Pest to the east, includes the imposing Gothic Parliament Building, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Opera House and Heroes’ Square. Cross the Danube to Buda. Our tour will pass through the Castle District with its quaint narrow streets and charming shops, the Fishermen’s Bastion with its spectacular views of the Danube and the ornate Coronation Cathedral. BD

SATURDAY | DAY 4 | BUDAPEST

This morning drive to the scenic Danube Bend to visit Szentendre, a popular artist’s colony.  Balance of the day at leisure.  B

SUNDAY | DAY 5 | BUDAPEST-VIENNA

Depart Budapest and take a train journey or private transfer to Vienna, the sparkling city on the Danube, transfer to the hotel. This afternoon, depart for a half day sightseeing tour to the Ringstrasse, Vienna’s famous boulevard. See imperial Vienna including the Vienna State Opera and St. Stephen’s Cathedral Palace. This evening enjoy a fabulous dinner and a concert at the Kursalon including transfers. BD

MONDAY | DAY 6 | VIENNA

This morning go on a guided tour at Narrenturm, the Fools Tower. Built in 1784, this was the first psychiatric hospital in the world and is now the home to Vienna’s Pathologic-anatomical Museum and the Sigmund Freud Museum, where the father of psychoanalysis met with patients and developed his revolutionary theories.  This afternoon, drive to the beautiful Schonbrunn Palace and enjoy a guided tour of the Imperial Rooms, followed by a visit to the nearby Schonbrunner Apple Strudel program  (when available) for a demonstration in the art of making  apple strudel. Enjoy an oven|fresh strudel with a hot beverage.  End the day with a stop at the French Gardens at the Belvedere Palace.   Evening is free to sample various restaurants; your guide will make suggestions. B

TUESDAY | 7 | VIENNA

Full day at leisure for optional pursuits – please see the hotel concierge to book an optional tour. You may choose to take a Danube Valley tour (8hours) will show you the beauty of the Wachau. Wind your way past charming old villages and steep vineyards. One of the castles, Durnstein, is especially famous for it is here King Richard the Lionhearted was imprisoned. Continue to Krems and its highlight, the Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of Austria’s most famous Baroque buildings. (Not applicable on November 11, 2014). B

WEDNESDAY | DAY 8 | VIENNA - CESKY KRUMLOV - PRAGUE

Your Czech escort will pick you up at your Vienna hotel for the drive across the Czech border and through the lush countryside, dotted with castles and pristine lakes to Cesky Krumlov, one of the most beautiful old towns on the continent. After lunch, time to explore the winding lanes and little shops that contribute so much to the atmosphere of this special town.  Continue to Prague, arriving in the early evening. BL

THURSDAY | DAY 9 | PRAGUE

Morning Professional Visit is scheduled at one of Prague’s leading hospitals. This afternoon’s walking tour of the the Old Town with its Town Hall and Astrological Clock, which virtually comes to life with the striking of the hours. Visit and tour the Jewish Quarter. Tonight, enjoy a Theater Performance. B

FRIDAY | DAY 10 | PRAGUE

Continue the tour of “golden” Prague in the Castle District of Hradcany, the former Royal Palace; see Vladislav Hall, a fine example of medieval architecture. Continue to Castle Square; see St. Vitus Cathedral with its towering spires. There will be time to stroll through narrow Golden Lane where the great Czech writer Franz Kafka once lived. Balance of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy this beautiful city at your own pace.  Tonight’s Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant to cap a memorable visit. BD

SATURDAY, DAY 11-EN ROUTE

Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the U.S. arriving later the same day. B
