Thursday | Day 2 | Cape Town
Arrive in magnificent Cape Town, with its rich diversity of soaring mountains, vineyards and endless beaches.

Friday | Day 3 | Cape Town
Breathtaking views today!  Ascend Table Mountain by cable car and enjoy the panoramic view of the spectacular Cape Peninsula (weather permitting).  Proceed to Groote Schuur Hospital for a Professional Visit. Here, Professor Christiaan Barnard made history by performing the first human heart transplant operation. Continue to beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden at the base of Skeleton Gorge.  Return to your hotel via Cape Town’s most exclusive suburbs.  This evening, enjoy a traditional South African dinner at a private home with local South Africans.  BD

Saturday | Day 4 | Cape Town
Drive to the Afrikaan Taal Monument and continue along the scenic Franschhoeck Valley.  Visit the memorial to the French Huguenots, stop along the way at one of the many fine wine estates in the region. Tour a wine cellar and enjoy tasting some of the world-renowned South African wines. Continue to historic Stellenbosch, with its extraordinary Cape Dutch architecture, center of the wine industry. Savor lunch and local wines at a well known wine estate before returning to Cape Town. Close by, visit Cheetah outreach a community-based programme created to raise awareness of the plight of the cheetah and to campaign for its survival. You will be able to see and interact with the cheetahs. BL

Sunday | Day 5 | Cape Town - Knysna
Drive through the lush winelands and fruit orchards to historic Swellendam for lunch. Continue to Knysna, lying on the banks of a shimmering lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route.  Drive via the beautiful coastal Garden Route towns of Wilderness and George to Mossel Bay, surrounded by a sunbathed peninsula and the refreshing waters of the Indian Ocean. Monday | Day 6 | Knysna
Today, visit Knysna Elephant Sanctuary. Here you can touch, feed and photograph these gentle giants. Continue to Storms River for the Woodcutters Journey to experience the indigenous forest from the comfort of a specially designed vehicle. After a light lunch, transfer to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a waterfront restaurant. BLD

Tuesday | Day 7 | Knysna - Kariega
This morning depart to Kariega Game Reserve, the malaria free, family owned and operated reserve, comprising nearly 9,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. It is home to more than 25 species of game including Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, and Warthog and a variety of Antelope and more than 280 species of birds. A unique feature is the ability to walk freely and safely amongst the game in an area of the reserve which excludes the dangerous “Big Five” animals. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive. BLD

Wednesday | Day 8 & Thursday - Day 9 | Kariega Game Reserve
At Kariega Private Game Reserve, everything revolves around our twice daily safari drives, the close-up encounters with African wildlife are the center of your unforgettable holiday. Experienced game rangers will drive you out on safari every morning and afternoon or evening in open game drive vehicles, traversing the valleys, grassy plains and African bushveld to bring you close to the Big 5 and other game roaming freely in their natural habitat.  Scrumptious meals will be enjoyed at the lodge in between and after game activities.  BLD/BLD

Friday | Day 10 | Kariega - Johannesburg
After an early morning game drive, enjoy breakfast at the lodge, and transfer to the Port Elizabeth airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the sophisticated suburb of Sandton.  BD

Saturday | Day 11 | Johannesburg
Highlights of today’s visit to Lillie’s Leaf, situated in residential Rivonia, the insightful and interactive museum experience Lilliesleaf honors South Africa’s remarkable heritage and the impressive trajectory of South Africa’s socio-political past. Once the headquarters of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the ANC and the Congress Alliance, Liliesleaf holds a position of esteem among struggle landmarks in South Africa. Visitors to Liliesleaf will experience a first-hand account of the events and circumstances leading up to the infamous raid of the Rivonia farm, as well as insights into some of the revolutionary personalities who helped to shape South Africa’s democracy. A Professional Visit is scheduled at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the largest in the world, on the border of Soweto. Then, drive through Soweto, a city of surprise and contrast, of starting enterprises and of vigorous cultural interaction. Enjoy a fascinating glimpse of bustling neighborhood life; two Nobel Prize Winners’ previous residences and a brief discussion on Apartheid and Soweto has changed. This evening enjoy dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. BD

 Sunday | Day 12 | En Route
Transfer to the airport and fly back to the U.S or continue on the extension to Victoria Falls. B
